Want to fit the inexpensive Harbor Freight 6 and 8" buffing wheels on your 5/8" shaft buffer / grinder?   Adapter set holds a single 1/2" thick buffing wheel true to it's inner hole MUCH better than the ill-fitting stamped metal washers Harbor Freight includes with wheels.  Reduces problems with vibration and gives you a real shot at a true running wheel.  We can't control if the outside of the wheel is cut to true to the inside hole but we can hold it true on the inside hole so as your wheel wears into true, vibration is minimized.   Once worn true, it can't shift on the adapter like it can in the stamped washer Harbor Freight supplies.   Shaft adapter assembly and wheel shown take up 1" of shaft.  To secure with your nut and typical washer, shaft must be at least 1 3/8" long.  Shaft example shown is 1 1/2" long.
This item is for buffer wheels with 1" internal hole ONLY.  Do not use with grinding wheels or wire brushes.

How to install:   Note Photo's.  First photo shows installed assembly. Second shows sloppy fit without adapter.  3 through 8 show assembly order.  First push on shaft washer with 1" OD step.  Followed by the wheel, then the centering plastic washer.  Follow those parts up with your metal washer and securing nut.  Tighten nut firmly.  Your buffing wheel needs to be gripped well enough not to slip and spin in the adapter/washer assembly.  No further tightness is required.

Buffing Shaft Adapter Tips:  Direction of motor rotation should be turning wheel down against work.  If you held the nut, the powered rotation of the motor should tighten it and not loosen it.  If you are working on the left side of a motor, the nut should be left hand or tightened counter clockwise.  If you are working on the right side of a motor, the nut should be right hand or tightened by clockwise rotation.

Safety:  Always read and follow your buffer/grinder manufacturers instructions.  Always wear safety glasses and hand protection.  Choose your work site carefully.  It is possible to lose grip on your part and have it propelled by the buffer at speed into people or property.  Do not spin faster 3600 RPM.  Do not use any parts, wheels or motors showing sines of fatigue or cracking.  This item is for buffer wheels with 1" internal hole approximately 1/2" thick.  Do not use with grinding wheels or wire brushes.

What's included:  This item is one complete adapter set including two tough tough ABS parts shown in dark gray.  The buffing wheel, motor, nut and metal washer(s) are not included and must be provided by you.   These items shown as props to help you understand assembly and fit.

Manufacturing Process:  Holes are machined for close fit and may be snug or have little clearance in order to run true.  Made of ABS by additive manufacturing process.  ABS is tough and will not become soft in a hot workshop like parts made from PLA can.

The hand shown is not for sale.
